Dals-Ed is the municipality of possibilities. Here there is much more to discover than you can imagine. We are comprised of 5,044 inhabitants living on 730 km². That means that 6.9 people inhabit every km², so there is plenty of space for more people without any risk of it becoming crowded. 3,300 of the inhabitants reside in the town of Ed, an enchanting pearl on a tongue of land between the lakes Stora Le (Big Le) and Lilla Le (Little Le).
Rich history
Already during the Stone Age the first people arrived in this area on the border of Norway and Sweden. Our history is rich with historical artefacts and legends. Today the choice is clear for anyone that appreciates grand wilderness, a well-preserved environment and good service. In Dals-Ed you don’t have to cope with stress, traffic congestion or meter maids. Here we have the time and energy to care about each other. Companies, merchants, the municipality and authorities cooperate to find the best solutions possible.
There is a rich, varied and dynamic business environment. Many of our products are exported to Great Britain and Germany. Much more than work
For the outdoor person, Dals-Ed’s community is perfect. In spite of its central position between big cities like Gothenburg and Oslo you can find a magnificent and untouched nature with an enchanting atmosphere. Because of this, Dals-Ed can offer silence – a rare item for stressed big city people. You can also find about 400 lakes, inviting you for swimming, fishing, canoeing and boating. There is also a national park, Tresticklan, with untamed wilderness, and several nature reservations. One of the nature reservations, Skansen, is located right in Ed. It is a deciduous forest along a sloping path down to Stora Le. The northern-most oak tree forest of the province grows here.
In Dals-Ed you also can find Dalsland’s largest collection of ancient remains. Around 60 grave mounds, stone formations and a stone circle from the late Iron Age are still preserved.
